Micky is a member of Agaric, a technology cooperative. She is devoted to ongoing dialog on building networks. Agaric’s six web developers on three continents build applications online, offer international webinars and host local meetings working with many organizations to raise awareness of cooperative technology, cooperative business models as well as international and local opportunities for cooperation. She is a member of MayFirst Movement Technology Leadership Committee, Solidarity Economy Network (SEN), UjimaBoston, the Radical Connections Network, United States Federation of Worker Cooperatives (USFWC), the national grassroots organization representing 6,000+ workers across the USA. Micky works with both technical and non-technical activists to connect developers with the people, the information and the tools they need to move from being a local network to a global movement based on solidarity, the workers’ economy needs. Micky speaks at conferences around the world on topics such as Community building, Industry organizing, Free software liberation & cooperative technology development. Micky writes about her experience as a contributing author in "Ours to Hack and to Own". The book is known as a handbook for the Platform Cooperativism movement which was started at the New School in NYC by Trebor Scholz and Nathan Schneider. It is now listed among the top tech books of 2017 by Wired magazine.
I see MayFirst Movement Technology as not only a web host, but as a resource generator, offering a suite of free software tools that protect people's privacy and freedoms. I envision the board playing a role in membership outreach campaigns and raising awareness on issues that our members are aligned with while providing some education related to the political climate and our safety. I would like to see an expansion of the "Need to Know" webinars and programs like the Tech and Rev Convergences. Alfredo and many others are doing an amazing job of organizing these efforts and they each need to be supported to continually address the barrage of assaults from our government to silence and surveil us. I would like to see the board members be instrumental in galvanizing the support of members to become more involved in creating MayFirst campaigns and to be equipt to efficiently present, vet and take on initiatives that are brought forward and voted on by the coop members. The board will achieve success by addressing issues as a group.
